Community-based special events are public events that support arts, culture, education, recreation, and community engagement. School facilities may be available for approved events that align with the Community Use of Schools program.

Examples of community-based special events include charitable fundraisers, outdoor walks and runs, vendor markets, cultural celebrations, dance recitals, conferences, film screenings, symphony performances, and provincial sports competitions.

Suitable spaces may include gymnasiums, cafeterias, outdoor sports fields, and auditoriums, depending on the nature and size of the event.

The Lambton Kent District School Board and St. Clair Catholic District School Board do not rent space for private events, such as birthday parties, team parties, family reunions, receptions, funerals, memorials, anniversaries, or corporate gatherings. CLASS reserves the right to classify rentals and may refuse or cancel bookings if necessary.

Special Event Form

After submitting a rental application, organizers must also complete a Special Event Form outlining additional event details, including parking requirements, setup and equipment needs, food and beverage arrangements, and the proposed event schedule.
