The Extended Day Program is an integral part of the Full Day Early Learning Kindergarten Program that complements what happens during the regular school day and provides children with additional opportunities to learn and grow.
Parents can choose to enroll their child(ren) in the before school, the after school or both programs, or not at all. Some schools may also offer programs during school breaks or on professional development (PD) days.
Locally within our District, all of the Extended Day Programs operated within school facilities are provided by independent, not-for-profit licensed child care operators. Teams of Registered Early Childhood educators are responsible for the Extended Day Programs. They plan a play-based program that is a mix of exploration, guided and independent activities, quiet times and outdoor play.
