The Lambton Kent and St. Clair Catholic District School Board’s have multiple sports fields and ball diamonds available for rent. Sports fields are often rented for practices, games, and tournaments for various sports, including but not limited to, football, rugby, soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, Ultimate Frisbee and track & field meets. Regular grassed fields are generally available May-September, weather permitting. The artificial turf field at Great Lakes Secondary School is available April-November.
Playgrounds/cement pads/basketball courts are not ‘rentable’ areas, if the public use these areas they do so at their own risk. Parking lots are only rented if they are the primary area for the rental. Overnight parking is not permitted, and parking lots may not be rented for sporting activities or personal use such as residents parking. Prohibited activities include but are not limited to; hot air balloon/helicopter rides, snowmobiles/ATV’s, fireworks, skating rinks, drones, carnival type equipment/rides, handing out/displaying/releasing balloons.
Great Lakes (GLSS) Outdoor Sports Complex
Opened in 2022, at a cost of $5.5 million, the Lambton Kent District Schools Board’s first artificial turf multi-sport field, which is surrounded by an eight-lane running track, can be rented for a variety of sports activities, including football, rugby, soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, Ultimate Frisbee and track & field meets.
Artificial turf advantages –
- Begin season earlier in the Spring (April) and play longer into the Fall (November), compared to natural turf playing season.
- Maintain competitiveness with teams in other areas that train on artificial turf fields.
- Reduced rain outs and cancelled games due to inclement weather.
- Better positioned to host major competitions and tournaments.
It is the intent of the Board to make the GLSS Outdoor Sports Complex available, for approved Community Use of Schools rental activities, in a fair, equitable and cost recovery manner, while recognizing that the primary use of the facility is for the delivery of education to its students.
