Lambton Kent District School Board & St. Clair Catholic District School Board have been participants in the EcoSchools program in recent years, and the organization had some exciting news to share as the school year opened:
Ontario EcoSchools is now EcoSchools Canada!
As you may have already noticed, our name has changed! For the past 15 years, we have grown throughout Ontario thanks to the dedication of board representatives, teachers, students, principals, administrators, and custodians like you.
As a result of this growth, over the summer we were able to join the international EcoSchools community as the official Canadian representative of the UN-endorsed Eco-Schools Programme overseen by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). We’re ready to build on our provincial progress and take it across the country to ensure that Canada has a standardized certification process and a localized national voice on the international stage.
Along with this growth comes a new website and social media platforms – the new ecoschools.ca is the go-to place for everything EcoSchools. Click the link to check it out. You can now connect with EcoSchools Canada on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram using @EcoSchoolsCAN. Reach out and say hello!
This is a timely announcement as we head into October – with lots of great eco initiatives and activities coming up, such as, International Walk to School Month, Waste Reduction Week, World Food Day, and Take Me Outside Day.
CLASS is proud to support schools in both of our member boards as they try and achieve their EcoSchools goals!
