An integrated before and after school program provides children with additional opportunities to learn and grow. These programs also provide a seamless day for families with children 6 – 12 years old due to the fewer transitions.
Parents can choose to enroll their child(ren) in the before school, the after school or both programs, or not at all. Some schools may also offer programs during school breaks or on professional development (PD) days.
Locally within our District, all of the Before and After School care programs operated within school facilities are provided by independent, licensed not-for-profit child care operators. They plan a play-based program that is a mix of exploration, guided and independent activities, quiet times and outdoor play.
